Robert Thatcher

President & Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Thatcher has over 35 years of executive and c-level experience in the medical device industry, varying from growing pre-clinical private companies to growing public companies with a market cap of over $1 billion. Prior to 4C Medical, Mr. Thatcher led functional teams in Sales & Marketing, Manufacturing, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical and Healthcare Policy at Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. In this role, he executed plans to gain product approvals in the U.S. for peripheral and coronary products. His efforts transformed the organization from pre-revenue to one with an annualized revenue of over $200 million and a market cap of over $1.2 billion. Earlier in his career, Mr. Thatcher held positions in commercial management, general management and executive management at Boston Scientific, Schneider and Medtronic where he managed teams throughout the business including Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, Clinical and Reimbursement. He primarily focused on building high performance teams capable of reducing costs and compressing timelines while improving quality and achieving business goals.

Mr. Thatcher earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of Florida and a Master of Business Administration degree from Rollins College.

Saravana Kumar, PhD

Vice President, R&D and Operations

Dr. Kumar is passionate about developing and commercializing medical devices to help patients in need. He has a successful track record of product design, development and regulatory approval followed by its commercialization within both small and large companies. Prior to 4C Medical, Dr. Kumar served as Senior Director of R&D and Operations at Conventus Orthopaedics, where his efforts led to the successful approval and commercialization of multiple novel fracture repair systems. Previously, he led engineering teams at St. Jude Medical for the successful development and commercialization of a transcatheter aortic valve replacement technology. His accomplishments includes development of numerous medical technologies including a transcatheter aortic valve replacement technology, a transcatheter tricuspid valve regurgitation treatment technology, a stent-tissue technology for treatment of tracheal-bronchial infections in lung cancer patients, and multiple orthopedic devices for the fixation of fractures in the upper extremity. Dr. Kumar has authored more than 10 papers published in peer-reviewed journals, and has one issued patent and multiple assigned provisional patents.

Dr. Kumar earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota at the Twin Cities, Master of Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and Bachelor of Science from the University of Delhi in New Delhi, India.  


Katherine (Yekaterina) Kumar, PhD, RAC

Executive Vice President

Dr. Kumar specializes in regulatory and clinical operations as well as science and marketing functional areas of the business. Prior to 4C Medical, she was VP of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs at TVA Medical, Inc., VP of Clinical Affairs at Monteris Medical, Inc. and Sr. Director of Science & Clinical Affairs at Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. (CSI) where she led clinical study development and execution, all scientific activities and the bridge between clinical and marketing activities. Prior to CSI, Dr. Kumar led clinical efforts at MEDRAD Interventional/Possis Medical (a business of Bayer HealthCare), American Medical Systems and several start-up companies.

Dr. Kumar earned her Master of Science and PhD in Mechanical Engineering degrees with honors from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She also earned the Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC) in May 2009 and is Harvard Business School alumni (Executive Education, General Management Program 2017).

Jeffrey Chambers, MD

Founder, Chief Medical Officer & Chairman of the Board

Dr. Chambers is a national leader in complex coronary interventions and has been in practice for more than 20 years. He is the President of Metropolitan Cardiology Consultants and Director of Research and Cath Lab at Metropolitan Heart and Vascular Institute. Dr. Chambers has a strong background in clinical research and was an investigator in numerous clinical trials in the cardiovascular space. He is a serial entrepreneur with numerous issued patents, some of which are associated with devices commercially available today.

Dr. Chambers received his medical degree from Wayne State University Medical School and completed his medical studies at the University of Minnesota.


James Flaherty

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Flaherty has an extensive financial management background with more than 30 years of experience. Prior to 4C Medical, his roles included Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Financial Officer at Cardiovascular Systems, Inc., a start-up medical device company which grew to over $1 billion in market valuation, Zomax Incorporated, a publicly traded CD manufacturer which grew revenues from $15 million to over $250 million in fewer than four years, and Racotek, Inc., a start-up wireless data company which became publicly traded. As CFO at these companies, Mr. Flaherty was responsible for all financial matters, information technology, facilities management, legal matters and financial analysis of business development opportunities.

Mr. Flaherty earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting degree from Loyola University in Chicago.
